I am trying to sign-up for classes, but the store doesn't display the classes I am looking for.

The store is configured to display items based on your annual membership. If you are not a member with MFA or your membership has expired, you will need to purchase an annual membership that correlates with the programs you are interested in. Our available memberships and the programs they give access to are located here.

Once you have become a member, you can head back to the store to make a class purchase.

I have purchased an annual membership and a class, but I cannot seem to book a class on the schedule. The "book now" button is greyed out.

The most likely occurrence of this is when a family member is booking for their child. Please verify who the membership and classes are purchased under. If you have accidentally purchased them for yourself, as the parent, then the greyed out button is often due to the age restriction we have set on the class.

If you have this issue, please call or email us so that we may transfer your purchases to the correct member and help establishing any relationships on your account to allow future purchases under the family member of your choice.

How do I cancel a class for myself or a family member?

It can be done in a few easy steps.

Step 1: Log into your account using the member portal or the WellnessLiving Achieve App.

Step 2 (as applicable): If you have multiple members on your account, ensure their picture icon is in the top right of the screen. Otherwise, click that icon and select the correct person.

Step 3: Select "Schedule" to view your upcoming class reservations.

Step 4: Select "Cancel" next to the reservation you wish to cancel.

Our cancellation policy is located here and our scheduling tutorials can be found here.

How do I start competing?

It is incredibly exciting to hear that you are ready to test out your skills! Local and regional tournaments are held on a regular basis. See our tournaments page and inquire our coaching staff or the front office about the next steps to participate in a tournament.

Why do I need an MFA membership and a USA Fencing membership before I can fence at MFA?

MFA membership is an inclusion of benefits that is tailored to the level of the student. These benefits can range from equipment rentals and in-house tournaments for those new to the sport to private lesson and strip coaching priority at national tournaments for those geared towards competition. Please see the entire list of benefits on our membership page.

USA Fencing is the recognized national governing body for the sport of fencing in the United States. Membership has several benefits, including the mandatory liability and insurance protection to participate at a sanctioned club. Further details include can be found on the USA Fencing website.

If I am just visiting or only doing open bouting, do I need a membership with USA Fencing?

Yes. For insurance and liability reasons, USA Fencing requires all participants to be members prior to engaging in the sport at a sanctioned club.

What are my options to open bout?

There are some options for you. Both assume you have an active USA Fencing membership.

  1. You can create an account with MFA and add-on open bouting sessions for each visit at $25/session. This can be done as a non-member or an Level I annual member.
  2. You can become a Level II annual member, where 25 group and open bouting sessions are included and future sessions can be purchased at a discounted rate.
  3. You can become a Level III annual member, and have access to unlimited group and open bouting sessions.

The best choice for you will depend on how often you intend to open bout. You can purchase and reserve a session through our member portal.
